Its the start of a LONG awaited season, and its about time too.

A nice sunny day greeted us for the first match, and after winning the toss, Cliff decided to let Manton bat on a green wicket.

A fantastically tight opening spell of bowling by Luke and Taylor saw Manton struggle to score runs, and after 12 overs only 28 runs had been scored with 3 wickets down, including a spectacular leg side catch from Dan off an inside edge. (Taylor started with 3 maidens & Luke 3 out of the first 4 too).

The pressure was on Manton to score runs against the new bowlers, and a good partnership developed for the 4th wicket and it looked like Manton had made a good recovery. However Ben broke the partnership, and the innings fell apart from there, Manton finally reaching 122 all out off 38 overs.

Cuckneys innings started solidly, with Dan and Taylor opening, until a rash shot saw Dan go, but Taylor looked set for the long haul.

It was hard going on a difficult pitch, but steady progress was made, and a quick cameo from Kev moved the score along.

The result never looked in doubt even after Kev fell, and Taylor and Ben saw us home with 13 overs to spare.

An excellent result and a great start to the season, with a full 20 points.

Man of the Match: A couple of good bowling performances to consider, but for both his bowling and batting through the whole innings, Taylor is the stand out player this week.
