Cuckney v Bolsover

Bassetlaw Division 1 11th August 2007

At Langwith Road: BOLSOVER (2) 150 all out (Saeed Ramani 49, Richard Stroh 5 for 51) lost to CUCKNEY (20) 151 for 3 (Kunil Jogea 44, Richard Stroh 72 n.o.) by seven wickets.

Cuckney lost the toss again which is becoming the norm now as he still has only won 3 tosses all year! Bolsover decided to bat on what looked the best pitch Bettsie the passion machine groundsman had produced all year! It had loads of grass on but was rock hard and the sun was beating down on Bearsville.

Bolsover however didn't put all these good batting conditions to use as there were never in the game for one minute of the day. Cuckney again started with Butts (Butler)and Slaphead (Stephenson) and both bowled ok and after a few overs with no loss of wickets the Bears thought it was going to be a long day! How wrong we all were. The skipper turned to his Premier fast bowler who hasn't bowled for 8 weeks due to injury , and what a reply he got as the Giraffe(Stroh) turned in figures of 5 for 51 in what was one of the best spells of bowling the big man has produced for the bears, with some great support from the fielding Bears who held on to 95% of the catches it just shows how effective the new ball can be. Slaphead (Stephenson) also bowled well down the hill and he was rewarded with a wicket as well. Steve (the burger destroyer) Randall after both his good catches in the slips then turned in a good little spell and also snaffled a couple of wickets. At one stage Bolsover were 85 for 7 and managed to get a couple of frustrating partnerships together. The Teabag (Ullyott) and the Mush man ( Musgrave) both had a dabble at the Bolsover lads with no luck. The Viper (Butler) then brought himself back on to finish the job and also finished with 2 wickets. Bolsover were finally all out for 150.

In reply the Bears didn't mess about and started well with the Giraffe (Stroh) and Joggie (Jogia) playing some good attacking cricket just showing how good the track really was before to all our amazement Joggers (Jogia) was given out LBW for a very well played 44. Deeeebs (Brown) then strided to the wicket and was soon unfortunately out LBW as well! Butler in at number four and played short and bright innings for a run a ball 29 before skying one to long on. Bentoss (Bentley) briefly joined The long neck Giraffe (Stroh) at the other end before the he finished the job and completed a great day for him and the Bears on fine unbeaten 72.

The Bears coming out on top by 7 wickets. A very good day for the Bears as results down the league went our way too. 5 games left to keep up the hard work! Well played lads !!! The lads then also enjoyed a cheeky evening out in Notts. The photos are in the Gallery
