Notts & Arnold v Cuckney
Bassetlaw Division 1 14th July 2007
At Goosedale Lane: NOTTS. & ARNOLD AMATEUR (3) 173 all out (Steve Randall 4 for 35) lost to CUCKNEY (20) 177 for 3 (Kunal Jogia 107 n.o., Daniel Brown 46) by seven wickets
Notts and Arnold won the toss and elected to bat first on what looked a good pitch for batting and definately something in for the bowlers again as there was alot of rain fell again in the week.
They got off to a decent start as Cuckney struggled to hit the straps early on. Nott & Arnold never once got away from Cuckney, the first wicket was taken by Musgrave who bowled an absolute jaffer to get rid of Flood for 14. At this stage good bowling and fielding kept the pressure on Notts & Arnold. Next man to go was brilliantly run out by Verjee from the boundary , this was a vital wicket as Pallister and Elliot were just getting started, the in form Elliot was out soon after for 42, by a good bit of bowling from Randall and fielding by the Cuckney unit as they starved the pro from strike. After good spells from Musgrave and Adwick who both bowled well with not much luck , Butler turned to his two spinners to tie things right up and what a response he got as Randall bowling 15 overs 4 for 35 and Ullyott 9 overs 2 for 35 bowled well in tandem once again. Stephenson came on at the end to finish them off taking a vital last wicket as every point in vital now. Notts and Arnold finshed on 173 all out.
After the dodgy performance at Kiveton chasing , Cuckney replied to all there critics by knocking off 173 with ease, The two openers put on 133 for the 1st wicket with Brown caught for a steady 46. Butler then fell soon after for 4. Randall then stepped in and was run out soon after for 10. The man of the match without doubt was Kunal Jogia after scoring 107 not out on an almost faultness knock , struck the ball with ease on a pitch which got slower as the day went on. He showed his class from ball one and if he can take that form into the rest on the season teams better watch out! Hind came in at the end and finished off a good win for the Bears. Cuckney won by 7 wickets and gained 20 points for their efforts.
A good positive performance by the Bears and the lads all have the same ideas for the rest of the season. With Bentley and Stroh to come back into the side we will be back at full strength soon.
